Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 26.11.2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Studycraft (“we”, “our”, “the platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, you must stop using the platform immediately.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally able to manage your own payment account and enter into binding contracts in your jurisdiction (typically 18+ in the EU). By using the platform, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Account Registration

When creating an account on Studycraft, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and truthful information
  • Keep your login credentials secure
  • Not share, sell, or transfer your account to others
  • Be responsible for all actions and activity under your account

4. Marketplace Role and Teachers

Studycraft operates as an online marketplace where independent teachers (“authors”) can offer courses, lessons, and educational content to students. We are not an employer, tax agent, or legal representative of teachers.

Teachers are solely responsible for the content they upload and the services they provide. By publishing content on the platform, teachers confirm that:

  • They own or have the necessary rights and licenses to all materials they upload
  • The content does not infringe any copyright, trademark, or third-party rights
  • The content complies with applicable laws and regulations
  • The content does not contain illegal, hateful, abusive, or harmful material

Studycraft is not responsible for user-generated content but reserves the right to review, hide, or remove content that violates these Terms, applicable law, or third-party rights.

5. Payments, Platform Commission and Taxes

All payments on Studycraft are processed securely via Stripe. We do not store card numbers, bank account numbers, or other sensitive payment data.

Teachers must connect their own Stripe account using Stripe Connect to receive payouts. Studycraft charges a platform commission on each successful transaction. This commission is deducted from the teacher’s share and is not charged directly to the student.

Even if the user receives a refund, the platform commission is not returned to the teacher. In case of refunds or chargebacks, the commission remains with Studycraft and may be deducted from the teacher’s current or future payouts.

Teachers are solely responsible for reporting income and paying all applicable taxes in accordance with their local laws. Studycraft does not provide tax advice and is not responsible for teachers’ tax obligations.

6. Refunds and Right of Withdrawal

Refunds may be issued in accordance with EU consumer protection law and our internal refund rules. Studycraft reserves the right to evaluate each case individually.

A user may be eligible for a refund in particular if:

  • A teacher did not show up for a scheduled live lesson
  • A paid course is effectively empty (no meaningful content or lessons)
  • The course clearly does not match its description or advertised requirements

Under EU law, digital content may fall under a 14-day right of withdrawal. However, by starting to view or access paid course content, the user expressly agrees that: the right of withdrawal expires once the digital content consumption begins.

In all refund cases, the platform commission is not refundable and is withheld from the teacher. Any returned amount is deducted from the teacher’s earnings, including potential Stripe and chargeback fees where applicable.

7. Prohibited Actions and Fraud Prevention

Users (students and teachers) are strictly prohibited from:

  • Creating multiple accounts to bypass payments, restrictions, or bans
  • Engaging in fraudulent purchases, artificial transactions, or refund abuse
  • Using false identity or impersonating another person
  • Attempting to hack, probe, or bypass security mechanisms of the platform
  • Uploading malicious code, viruses, or other harmful components

In case of suspected fraud, chargebacks, or abuse, Studycraft may temporarily suspend accounts, freeze payouts, request additional verification, and cooperate with Stripe, banks, or relevant authorities.

8. Intellectual Property and Digital Rights

Studycraft owns the platform’s software, design, trademarks, and branding. Courses, lessons, and other educational materials are owned by their respective authors.

Users are prohibited from:

  • Copying, downloading, redistributing, or reselling course content without explicit permission
  • Recording the screen, capturing video or audio of lessons for sharing or resale
  • Attempting to circumvent, disable, or bypass any technical protection measures or DRM
  • Publishing or uploading content that is copied from other platforms or creators without rights

Studycraft may use technical and legal measures to detect and prevent violations of intellectual property and DRM protection.

9. Content Removal and Account Termination

Studycraft reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to:

  • Hide, restrict access to, or permanently remove any course or content that violates these Terms, the law, or third-party rights
  • Suspend or terminate user accounts in case of repeated violations or severe misconduct
  • Withhold current and future payouts to teachers if there is evidence of fraud, copyright infringement, or other serious violations

In cases of proven violation (including plagiarism, stolen courses, or illegal content), teachers may lose the right to receive pending earnings related to such content and may be permanently banned from the platform.

10. Platform Availability

We aim to provide stable and continuous access to Studycraft, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, updates, outages, or technical issues may occur. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime, service interruptions, or external infrastructure failures.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Studycraft is not responsible for:

  • User-generated content uploaded by teachers or students
  • Financial losses arising from Stripe account limitations, disputes, or payout delays
  • Technical errors, downtime, or data loss caused by external providers or force majeure
  • Decisions or actions taken by users based on the content of courses or lessons

The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes take effect when they are published on this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Austria and applicable European Union legislation. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with Austrian law and competent courts, unless mandatory consumer protection rules in your country provide otherwise.
